KAS – The Local Area
Stunningly situated among towering vertical cliffs, Hotel Cachet is in Kas, Turkey, - the region’s second major resort. There are dramatic rocky coastlines which allow easy access to clear and unpolluted Mediterranean waters; an abundance of outdoor activities, and a lively nightlife have maintained its reputation as a satisfying and enjoyable holiday destination.
Despite the tourist development of what was once a simple fishing village, Kas still preserves its small-town charm, with narrow cobbled streets and eclectic boutique shops.
Leading back from the harbour ın Kas are a web of narrow winding cobbled streets lined with an abundance of restaurants, cafes, tea gardens and colourful shops. On Fridays the town hosts a large market offering a wide variety of fresh local produce, spices, hardware, fashionable summer wear, haberdashery, bags, shoes and trinkets etc.
For the less mobile traveller, the centre of town and the harbour are accessible to wheelchair users. There is an excellent network of cheap transport - local buses ‘dolmus’ which travel on most routes (stopping opposite the hotel) and also local taxis.
There are many day trips that can be taken from the local area. Kas is the centre for glass-bottomed boat trips to the sunken cities around Kekova Island from where remains of mysterious civilisations can be viewed just below the surface of the water. There are daily cruises to the Greek island of Meis, to the gorge at Saklikent and to see the castle and archaeological remains at Tilos. Hotel Cachet can make all arrangements for you.
